More than 2,000 firefighters and local responders are working to stop a grassland fire spreading from Mongolia toward the border of China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, China Daily reported on October 12, 2026.
Citing Xinhua News Agency, China Daily said the fire broke out on the Mongolian side of the border near Dong Ujimchin Banner in Xiliin Gol League at around 1 pm on Friday, October 9. Driven by terrain and wind, the blaze advanced toward the border areas of Xiliin Gol League and Hinggan League.
