Mexico stands out within North America. At $1,689, the iPhone 18 Pro costs about $490 more than in the U.S., a 41% premium despite the two markets sharing a border.
The $1,199 U.S. starting price is also $200 above the $999 launch price of the iPhone 16 Pro two generations earlier.
Asian Markets Show a Wide Price Range
Several Asian markets rank near the lower end of the list. Hong Kong has the region’s lowest price at $1,338, followed by Malaysia at $1,347 and Japan at $1,401. China is priced at $1,490, while India stands at $1,874.
That makes the iPhone 18 Pro about 56% more expensive in India than in the United States. Buyers in Hong Kong pay about 12% more than the U.S. benchmark after currency conversion.
Türkiye and Brazil Stand Out
At $2,817, Türkiye is the most expensive market in the ranking. That’s $1,618 more than the U.S. price, meaning a buyer could purchase two iPhone 18 Pro models in the U.S. for less than the price of one in Türkiye, before U.S. sales tax.
Brazil ranks second at $2,307, about 92% above the U.S. benchmark. Taxes, import costs, currency conditions, and Apple’s regional pricing can all contribute to these gaps.
Europe also has higher prices than North America in much of the dataset. Switzerland is the region’s lowest-priced market at $1,441, while many European Union markets fall between roughly $1,640 and $1,720. Unlike the U.S. sticker price, European retail prices generally include value-added tax, which accounts for part of the difference.
What Buyers Get for the Higher Price
The iPhone 18 Pro brings several upgrades over the iPhone 16 Pro. According to Apple, its newer chip improves performance, while the camera system adds more flexibility and a higher-resolution front camera.
Battery life has also improved. In testing, the iPhone 18 Pro lasted more than two hours longer than the iPhone 16 Pro and charged faster over the same 30-minute period.
Despite these improvements, the iPhone 18 generation has faced a connectivity issue in the United States. According to Forbes, Apple identified a problem affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max devices on AT&T that could cause users to lose cellular service.
Apple Takes the Top Spot in Smartphones
In 2010, Apple ranked third worldwide with 47.5 million smartphone shipments and a 15.7% market share, trailing Nokia and BlackBerry.
By 2025, Apple ranked first, shipping 247.8 million smartphones and capturing 19.7% of the market.
Apple and Samsung are the only companies that remained among the five largest smartphone makers in both 2010 and 2025. Xiaomi, vivo, and OPPO now hold three of the top five positions, while global smartphone shipments rose from 302.6 million units in 2010 to 1.26 billion in 2025.
