Apple has unveiled a new artificial-intelligence-enabled device called Apple ‘HomeView’ equipped with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display that combines entertainment, communication, and smart-home controls of a household in one gadget.
The company made the announcement on October 13, stating the preorders begin today. However, customers could get hold of the product only after a month’s time, it added.
AI-powered personalized responses
Powered by Apple Intelligence and the latest version of Siri AI, the company’s AI tools let users can get more personalized responses to their queries and have more natural conversations with the assistant. Besides profound conversation, HomeView, when paired with a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, can use personal context from apps such as Messages and Calendar to garner more relevant responses.
In a press statement, the corporation said that the new version of Siri installed in the latest product has expansive world knowledge, powering richer music discovery alongside a greater speaker system.
Though designed to be used by everyone in the household, the new system can cater personalized content to six users, which is the upper limit for the facial recognition feature.
“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by everyone in the home yet feel completely personal to each user,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.
Beyond the personalized attention, the new gadget also comes handy as an intercom, helping to communicate with people in the other rooms of the house, much like an Intercom channel.
Smarter home controls
Elaborating on the range of functions of the smart device, he added that HomeView keeps you connected to the people who matter most with FaceTime, and makes it easy to control your smart home.
The touchscreen also provides a more direct way to access these functions without relying entirely on voice commands. This could make HomeView useful for quick household tasks, such as checking who is at the door through a compatible camera or adjusting room settings while passing by. Its combination of a display and smart-home controls brings several everyday functions together in a single device.
According to the company, it allows users to control compatible smart-home devices using voice commands or its touchscreen to adjust lights and thermostats, lock doors, close blinds, and even view camera feeds. Security remains paramount for the company, even in the latest addition to their range of products that offers a personal experience to the users.
“..Drawing on personal context from your iPhone to help you find what you need and get more done, all while keeping everyone’s information private and secure,” said Joswiak.
Apple claimed that the device comes in two designs — tabletop and wall-mounted- and can fit in any space. It can be placed centrally on a tabletop or tucked comfortably in the corner of a side table or nightstand, while sharing family photo albums and music can be easily enjoyed by everyone in a household, including guests. The wall-mounted version can take up space in the entryway or hallway, offering entertainment to passersby.
With a stainless steel body, Apple’s latest smart gadget comes in different hues ranging from silver, starlight, rose pink, to space gray — each finished with a matching cable.
