MP Bolormaa's livestreamed lottery sending 80 herders to Inner Mongolia draws criticism
MP E. Bolormaa picked 80 herders from four western aimags for a study trip to Xilingol by livestreamed lottery; former MP B. Bayarsaikhan called it shameful.

MP E. Bolormaa has drawn public criticism for choosing herders from her constituency for a study trip to Inner Mongolia through a livestreamed lottery. Today (October 31, 2026) former MP B. Bayarsaikhan also weighed in.
80 herders, a four-day trip to Xilingol
iSee.mn reported that on October 27 Bolormaa livestreamed on her social media page as she drew lots to choose 80 herder households from Khovd, Uvs, Zavkhan and Govi-Altai for a study trip to Xilingol League in Inner Mongolia. Eguur.mn reported that the trip lasts four days and that the MP will pay the costs.
A question of ethics
iSee.mn wrote that study trips for herders are not wrong in themselves. But it said a lawmaker livestreaming herself as she picks voters by lottery raises questions about an MP's role and ethics. Outlets noted that constituency MPs handing out gifts to voters with the next election in mind has drawn criticism before.
"Ashamed and disgusted"
In a post shared on X, former MP B. Bayarsaikhan wrote that watching MPs livestream a lottery left him "truly ashamed and disgusted". He stressed that herders are the continuation of the nation's independence. Some users said the move was aimed at winning votes. That is their view.
As of 18:30 we could not find any response from Bolormaa to the criticism.
