Here are the 8 topics Mongolian users discussed most on X between 22:13 on October 14 and 02:20 on October 15 (Ulaanbaatar time), ranked by likes, reposts and views of the leading posts. Activity was relatively light overnight, and some posts were published before the window but kept being reposted and discussed through the night. Topics from earlier roundups are repeated only where there is a new development. Metrics as of 02:30.

1. G. Uyanga’s claims about a journalist’s family landholdings spread again (new development)

Statements by G. Uyanga continued to be widely reposted on X overnight. According to Unuudur.mn, Uyanga said that 10 land plots are registered to Eguur.mn editor J. Myadagbadam and five to her husband T. Khuchitbaatar, together equivalent to the plots of 22 households, and suggested this could be a conflict of interest linked to former Ulaanbaatar governor Kh. Nyambaatar. In a statement on her social media page reported by polit.mn, Myadagbadam rejected the claims, saying she is not a public official, bought and merged the plots lawfully over about two years and that Nyambaatar had nothing to do with it. In a clip posted by ZogiiMn, Uyanga also criticised the so-called “10 honest sites” as being funded from the capital city’s budget. These are claims by the parties; law enforcement has not reached any conclusion. Read more in our earlier report (in Mongolian).

2. Ch. Anar: “I won’t back ₮800 billion for Chromebooks”

A clip of MP Ch. Anar saying he would not support spending ₮800 billion on Chromebooks for every child, and that the budget should instead expand access to schools, was posted during the day and kept being reposted overnight. In May, Education Minister L. Enkh-Amgalan said the “one student, one computer” policy would deliver 300,000 Chromebooks and 15,500 smart boards in stages in 2026-2028 under financial leasing, at an estimated ₮300-350 billion in total and without direct budget spending (mongolnews24.com). The basis for the ₮800 billion figure Anar cited has not been officially explained.

3. Cable car: “98 cabins” and a debate over the route

A post saying all 98 cabins of the cable car were ready for testing, and another suggesting the line would have been more useful running from Yarmag to the “19” area, drew wide views from the evening onwards. According to ikon.mn, the 4.2 km, two-station line from Artsat in Yarmag to Unur in Kharkhorin is currently being load-tested with five cabins each carrying 750 kg. All 98 cabins will then be tested system-wide, followed by a technical audit by Bureau Veritas and acceptance by a state commission, so the full fleet is not yet ready to carry passengers. 4. Numrug fire: users contrast the Japanese CEO’s apology with Mongolian officials (new development)

After Mobicom CEO Yasuhiro Ochi apologised, X users kept debating accountability. @chimeddorjm praised him for apologising and pledging to help cover the damage, arguing that if it was not deliberate everyone should work together to reduce the harm and learn from it, while others contrasted it with how rarely Mongolian officials apologise publicly. In a clip shared by anbuleg, Ö. Shijir cited reports that 7,200 km² had burned; users have posted differing damage estimates, but no final official assessment has been issued. 5. Oyu Tolgoi dividend: “Under what agreement was it secured?” (new development)

The government has included a ₮3 trillion dividend from Oyu Tolgoi in the 2027 budget and is asking citizens via e-Mongolia, until 22:00 on October 28, how it should be spent. In a debate clip shared by anbuleg, D. Enkhtuya asked exactly which agreement guarantees the dividend. @p_tsenguun posted his own calculation of how the payout would be split among shareholders and suggested repaying debt instead of distributing cash, while the @Baabarniitlelch account wrote that the dividend had never been confirmed and was only a proposal, yet expectations had run high.

In budget-debate clips shared by anbuleg, D. Tsogtbaatar urged the Bank of Mongolia’s first deputy governor to travel abroad less and focus on aligning monetary and fiscal policy, and criticised ministers’ claims that there is no room to raise wages and pensions, pointing to the leadership of the Chinggis Khaan sovereign wealth fund. G. Ochirbat noted that ₮400 billion is being spent on preparations for the sixth power plant and asked why it could not be built in Baganuur, closer to its coal supply, while D. Enkhtuya criticised plans for heating plants in ten provinces that appear in the budget every year but are never built. We have not independently verified the figures cited.
