These are the 8 topics Mongolian users discussed most on X between 06:13 and 10:24 (Ulaanbaatar time) on October 19, ranked by the likes, reposts and views of the leading posts. On the first morning of the working week, the most-discussed subjects were a new stage in the dispute within the media sector, the leadership of the Ulaanbaatar branch of the Mongolian People's Party (MPP), and a cold morning with blizzards forecast. Users also talked about a life-simulation game that has caught on in Japan, Monday traffic, Putin's proposal on Ukraine, the President's state visit to Germany, and tomorrow's National Anthem Day. Only 8 real, verified topics emerged in this window, so we did not pad the list to 10. There were also posts on Mongolia becoming a donor to the World Bank's IDA, the Trade and Development Bank's new system, the riots in France and S. Byambatsogt's remarks on the party list, but we left them out because nothing new and verifiable had happened since earlier roundups. We also removed posts that accused or insulted named individuals or contained information that could not be verified. Figures are as of 10:24.

1. Media dispute: a journalist says she will go to law enforcement, and the journalists' union plans a 1,000-journalist forum (new development)

Arguments over media contracts and journalistic ethics have run on X all week, and this morning they took a new turn. In the most-engaged post of the window, @battsetsegAnya said she will ask law enforcement to investigate whoever spread defamatory information attacking her family, her honour and her private life. She said she was bullied for refusing an "order" not to share a citizen's words, and stressed that in 18 years in the sector she has never acted unlawfully. These are her own statements; the other side's account could not be independently verified.

@LutochirT wrote that the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists (CMJ) is in trouble unless it sorts out its members' ethics and the transparency of their funding, adding that he was curious to see what the union's planned meeting of 1,000 journalists would discuss and decide. According to Reelnews.mn, MNB and Polit.mn, the forum will be held on October 30. Its first part will bring in representatives of the courts, police, prosecutors, the Independent Authority Against Corruption and the National Human Rights Commission to discuss cases involving journalists. The second part will be closed and open to journalists only, and is expected to adopt a declaration on professional ethics, CMJ president L. Ninjjamts said.

@toimch demanded that contracts with media outlets, past and present, be made public and that open-account (Shilen Dans) records be kept, tagging Prime Minister N. Uchral. 2. Report: Ulaanbaatar MPP to discuss its chair on November 7, as users react to Kh. Nyambaatar's livestream (new development)

Kh. Nyambaatar was removed as Mayor of Ulaanbaatar in May by order of Prime Minister N. Uchral and is now abroad. His October 18 livestream, titled "Alone against the regime", was discussed on X yesterday. This morning the story moved on: iSee.mn and iToim.mn reported that the presidium of the Ulaanbaatar MPP committee met on October 16 and scheduled a meeting on November 7 to take up the question of the committee's chair. They said the presidium also decided to send the Chingeltei and Songinokhairkhan district citizens' representative khurals a direction to dismiss their governors, N. Manduul and Ts. Battör, within this week. Full story: https://www.egov.mn/en/article/ulaanbaatar-mpp-to-discuss-its-chair-on-november-7-and-directs-dismissal-of-two-district-governors

Users also gave their views on Nyambaatar's livestream. @carnationt quoted him saying "small and medium businesses are going bankrupt" and "price rises are out of control", then asked mockingly who had brought things to this point. @gombodorj_B agreed with his claim that "a regime has been established in Mongolia", while @LupinDavaa wrote that Nyambaatar "fails every time he goes live".

He explained that it uses country statistics to have you born somewhere in the world and simulates the life you lead and how long you live, with choices along the way shaping your path.
