Between 14:00 and 18:30 on November 1, Mongolian users on X talked most about the next step for the basic pension, a plan to hand the garage-tax petition to the Prime Minister, and a viral wedding in China. Also drawing attention: Cabinet Secretariat head B. Enkhbayar rebutting Kh. Nyambaatar, Trump saying he would invite Zelensky to the G20, a drone strike on Russia's Kstovo refinery, imported Euro-92 petrol selling at 5,600 tugriks, O. 1. On day one of the basic pension, the Prime Minister promises an inflation-linked rise next year (new development)

Earlier roundups reported that from today 413,000 older people are receiving a basic pension of 100,000 to 300,000 tugriks on top of their existing pension (egov.mn: https://www.egov.mn/mn/article/ahmad-nastnuud-suur-tetgever-avch-ehellee). The new development is that Prime Minister N. Uchral met older residents at the Bayanzurkh district senior centre today and said pensions will be raised in line with inflation from the new year (UBN.mn). He also said that from January 1, 2027 the pensions of 141,000 retirees will be calculated on a salary base of 2.4 million tugriks instead of 1.4 million, and that each year of work beyond retirement age will add four percent to a pension.

The most widely shared Mongolian post of the window came from G. Bayarsaikhan, head of the "Shudarga Yos" group, who worked out how much his own pension had grown. The figures he cites, including 769,000 tugriks and "10 percent next year", are his own calculations; the government has not announced the size of next year's increase. Some users argued that the real increase is small once inflation is taken into account.

2. Garage-tax petition to be handed to the Prime Minister next week (new development)

egov.mn's October 26 roundup reported that the e-Zasag.mn petition to scrap the garage tax had reached its 100,000-signature goal. Lawyer O. Batkhuu, who started the petition, now says he will formally hand it to the Prime Minister next week, which would allow the cabinet to discuss it. According to iSee.mn, 100,412 people signed the petition, which asks for one garage or parking space owned by a citizen for family use to be exempt from property tax.

3. Thousands of strangers turn up for a Chinese orphan's wedding

Mongolian users widely shared the story of Xu Chenghong, a 24-year-old from Zhaotong in Yunnan province, who invited strangers on Douyin because he had few relatives to attend his wedding. Thousands came to the celebration on October 31. According to Malay Mail and Xinhua, he lost his father at three, was raised by his grandmother and saved more than 160,000 yuan for the wedding through odd jobs. Guests brought household goods, food and livestock, and local officials moved the event to a larger square and managed traffic and food safety. Reports differ on the total number of guests, so the "10,000" figure circulating on X is unconfirmed.

4. B. Enkhbayar rejects Kh. Nyambaatar's claim about the coal hearing (new development)

Kh. Nyambaatar, the former Ulaanbaatar governor who is in Canada, said in yesterday's livestream that in 2023 President U. Khurelsukh had warned him and B. 5. Trump says he will invite Zelensky to the G20 summit in Miami

US President Donald Trump said he would invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the G20 summit in Miami on December 14–15 (Anadolu, RIA Novosti). The US had already invited Vladimir Putin, and the Kremlin has not made a final decision on attending. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov's remark that Putin would answer if Zelensky called (TASS) was also discussed.

6. Drone attack hits Russia's Kstovo refinery

Nizhny Novgorod governor Gleb Nikitin said a "massive" overnight drone attack caused significant damage to an industrial facility in the Kstovo district. He said more than 100 drones were destroyed and early information showed no casualties (Euronews). Monitoring channels said the target was Lukoil's Kstovo refinery, one of Russia's largest, which produces diesel and jet fuel.

Euro-92 petrol ordered from China has gone on sale at Ulaanbaatar filling stations for 5,600 tugriks a litre. Officials said the price is set on market principles and that the price of regular AI-92 will not change (UBN.mn, Khumuun.mn). Users criticised the price and shared photos of pump price boards. 8. O. Suldkhuu fights for world championship bronze tonight

At the Astana 2026 World Wrestling Championships, O. Suldkhuu drew 3:3 with Levi Haines of the US in the 79 kg freestyle semifinal and lost on the last point scored, so he wrestles for bronze tonight at 21:00 (Ergelt.mn). B. Munkh-Erdene is in the repechage on the tournament's final day.

9. Youth Olympic Games open in Dakar

The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games opened on October 31 at Abdoulaye Wade Stadium in Diamniadio, Senegal. It is the first Olympic event ever held in Africa (IOC). The Games run for 14 days.
