Engagement was relatively light on a Sunday evening, but the world wrestling championships, the title celebration for State Lion B. Bat-Ölzii and Europe's youth protests drew the most attention. 1. Astana 2026: O. Süldkhüü and B. Münkh-Erdene lose their bronze-medal bouts (new development)

The result of O. Süldkhüü's bout, flagged in our 6 PM roundup, is in. According to Zogii.mn, Süldkhüü lost the 79kg bronze-medal bout to Russia's Ismail Khaniev, after going down 3:3 on criteria to Levi Haines of the United States in the semifinal. At 57kg, B. Münkh-Erdene beat home favourite Meirambek Kartbai of Kazakhstan 10:8 in the repechage but conceded points in the closing moments of his bronze bout. 2. Khovd celebrates State Lion B. Bat-Ölzii's title

3. Germany's "Gen Z" protests turn to rioting in Frankfurt, with unrest in Switzerland too (new development)

Youth protests across Germany on Saturday turned violent in some cities after dark. In Frankfurt, shops on the Zeil were looted and a gun shop was attacked; police seized two weapons and made more than 30 temporary arrests. There were also clashes in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne, and the organisers, "Gen Z regelt", distanced themselves from the violence. Unrest was also reported in Zurich and Basel in Switzerland. According to Al Jazeera and AP, Netanyahu's bloc won 53 of 120 seats, Gadi Eisenkot's opposition bloc 48 and Arab-led parties 19, so none reached the 61 needed to govern. MP R. Davaadorj posted a joke once told by former US President Ronald Reagan. It was the most-engaged post of this window. In the joke, an American, a Polish and a Russian dog meet, poking fun at shortages and the lack of free speech. Users read it as a comment on today's politics.

6. Debate revives over a bill to have Parliament pick the anti-corruption chief through open selection

MP Ch. Lodoisambuu's June amendment to the Anti-Corruption Law drew renewed debate on X. According to iSee.mn, the bill would end the current system, under which the head of the Independent Authority Against Corruption (IAAC) is appointed on the Prime Minister's nomination. Instead, Parliament's Standing Committee on Legal Affairs would run a selection, and Parliament would choose from at least five candidates by secret ballot for a six-year term. The government issued its opinion on the bill in October. Some users asked whether the change could weaken the IAAC's independence, and argued that the law on prosecutors also needs reform.

7. A user asks officials to explain a 22,000 gap in basic pension figures (new development)

On the day basic pension payments began, user Enkhmanal compared official figures. The government said on October 21 that 435,000 older people would qualify, while the November 1 announcement said payments were reaching the accounts of 413,000. 8. Border guards find a herder lost in bad weather in Dornogovi

Border guards from military unit 0129 found a herder, identified as B., who had become lost in Dornogovi province as the weather worsened, and returned him safely to his family, the General Authority for Border Protection said. Snowstorms are forecast across many provinces in the coming days, and herders and travellers are urged to take care.

9. Kyrgyzstan plans to replace its regions and districts with 20-plus "aimags"

Kyrgyzstan plans an administrative reform that would replace its seven oblasts (regions) and 40 raions (districts) with more than 20 aimags, outlets including Asia-Plus and Daryo reported. Mongolian users took notice of the familiar term. The plan would first be piloted in one aimag for one to three years before any nationwide rollout.
