Azzuro Resources discovers new copper sulphide zone at Red Hill in Mongolia

ASX-listed Azzuro Resources PLC (AZ9) said on 1 October 2026 that drillhole MU2613A intersected 7.0 metres of semi-massive to massive sulphide at its 100%-owned Red Hill (formerly Maikhan Uul) copper-gold VMS project in southwestern Mongolia.

Azzuro Resources PLC (ASX: AZ9) announced on 1 October 2026 that it has discovered a new copper sulphide zone at its 100%-owned Red Hill (formerly Maikhan Uul) copper-gold volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) project in southwestern Mongolia.

Drillhole MU2613A, completed as part of a shallow gold drilling program, intersected 7.0 metres of semi-massive to massive sulphide mineralisation from 72.3 metres downhole, including 0.85 metres of massive sulphide from 75.0 metres. Visual logging identified copper sulphides including bornite and chalcopyrite. The interval sits about 70–80 metres north of previously drilled massive sulphide copper mineralisation at Red Hill, pointing to a larger copper footprint than previously mapped. Laboratory assays are expected in approximately four to five weeks, the company said. Reported intervals are downhole lengths; true widths have not yet been determined.

Managing Director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren said MU2613A delivered a new copper sulphide zone north of prior Red Hill drilling while the team was targeting shallow gold, suggesting the North Zone gold and copper sulphides are likely parts of one system. He noted that downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) modelling defined a strong ~1,000 Siemens conductor at Zone B, that a second deeper-capable drill rig is mobilising, and that metallurgical testwork results are due in early Q4 2026.

According to the company, 2025–2026 drilling has defined copper-gold massive sulphide mineralisation over roughly 550 metres of strike at Red Hill. Since 1 September 2026, six completed shallow-gold holes have drilled a total of 442.6 metres within a planned program of about 1,200 metres. DHEM surveying across eight holes defined three conductive plates: Zone A (~450S), Zone B (~1,000S) and Zone C (~100S), with Zone B flagged as a priority follow-up target.

Red Hill lies about 30 km from Altai city and roughly 250 km from the Burgastai border crossing into China. Azzuro Resources PLC is a mineral exploration and development company focused on critical and base metals projects in Mongolia.
