Azzuro Resources identifies nine new geophysical targets at Oval copper-nickel project in Mongolia
First-stage 3D IP results announced on 7 September 2026 outlined nine new anomalies around Azzuro Resources' Oval Cu-Ni-PGE intrusion in southwestern Mongolia, five of them ranked priority-1.

Azzuro Resources PLC (ASX: AZ9) announced on 7 September 2026 that first-stage results from an ongoing 3D induced polarisation (3D IP) survey at its Oval copper-nickel-platinum group element (Cu-Ni-PGE) project, on the Yambat exploration licence in Govi-Altai province, southwestern Mongolia, have identified nine new resistivity anomalies around the Oval intrusive body. Most lie in areas and at depths not tested by previous drilling.
Five are ranked priority-1 (Ta-01 to Ta-05), each supported by coincident chargeability, low resistivity and a new magnetic-constrained model completed in August 2026 by Terra Resources Pty Ltd. Ta-01 points to the mineralised intrusive system continuing at depth beneath and beyond OVD052, the last hole drilled at Oval, along a major fault lineament. Ta-02 to Ta-05 sit at shallow depth, run parallel to the Oval intrusion and are described by the company as drill-ready geophysical targets; Ta-05 coincides with a previously defined FLEM conductor plate. Four priority-2 targets (Ta-06 to Ta-09) are supported by two of the three datasets. The company noted that the interpretation remains subject to drilling confirmation.
Azzuro said the approach has a precedent at Oval: hole OVD049, drilled to test a low-resistivity anomaly, intersected 23 metres of mineralised mafic-ultramafic intrusion, including 16.8 metres at 0.39% copper and 0.41% nickel. The company has also re-modelled an earlier fixed-loop electromagnetic (FLEM) survey, identifying 16 untested conductive plates as additional drill targets.
The company has imported a new Novaminex downhole electromagnetic (DHEM) system into Mongolia, which was being calibrated at Red Hill with a Zonge GGT-30b transmitter in partnership with Logantek Mongolia LLC, with surveys over Oval planned for September. The 3D IP survey was expected to finish in Q3 2026. Separately, diamond hole CRS05 (291 m) at the Copper Ridge copper-gold prospect returned only a narrow gold interval of 4.0 metres at 0.30 g/t gold from 277.4 metres and no significant copper.
Managing Director Gan-Ochir Zunduisuren said: "These are exactly the kind of results we were hoping for. The 3D IP survey delivered an exciting new set of targets, backed by strong magnetic survey modelling. This data is a real change in understanding of the Oval system but remains subject to drilling confirmation." He added that the company now sees a clear pathway toward a potential JORC 2012 Resource across its copper portfolio in southwestern Mongolia.
