South Korea's Justice Ministry announced on October 28 that it will pilot group tourist visas (C-3-2) for Mongolian citizens for one year, from October 30, 2026 to October 31, 2027. The Korea Herald, Yonhap and SBS reported the announcement.

Who is eligible

The visa will be issued to tour groups of at least five people organised through one of seven travel agencies selected by the Korean Embassy in Ulaanbaatar. Holders can stay in South Korea for tourism for up to 15 days. During the pilot, the programme will mainly cover corporate incentive trips, training-related group tours and school excursions.

A ministry official said Mongolia will be the seventh country covered by the group tourist visa scheme, joining countries including China and Indonesia.

Safeguards

To prevent abuse, the Korea Immigration Service will screen participant lists in advance, filtering out people subject to entry restrictions or with a history of illegal stay. Designated travel agencies could face administrative sanctions if participants leave their groups without authorisation.

Acting Justice Minister Lee Jin-soo said: "This pilot program will simplify entry procedures for Mongolian nationals and help promote people-to-people exchanges and tourism between the two countries." The ministry will review the results before deciding whether to introduce the scheme formally and widen its scope.
