Between 14:13 and 18:20 on Saturday, October 31, Mongolian users on X talked most about Kh. Nyambaatar's latest livestream, MP E. Bolormaa's lottery for herders, and a dispute over the public broadcaster's budget. Engagement was relatively low on a weekend that was also Halloween. Figures are as of 18:30.

1. Nyambaatar demands that President Khurelsukh resign (new development)

Former Ulaanbaatar mayor Kh. Nyambaatar, who has been charged in a corruption case and is in Canada, used a livestream today to demand that President U. Khurelsukh submit his resignation. He said he would return to Mongolia "the day the next president is elected". That is a harder line than last week, when he said he would return once the President accounted for his assets (UBN.mn). During the stream he also showed what he described as a model of a statue of the President. This could not be independently verified. The Office of the President has previously accused Nyambaatar of spreading slander. As of 18:30 it had not responded publicly to today's remarks. 2. MP Bolormaa's lottery for herders draws criticism

On October 27, MP E. Bolormaa held a livestreamed lottery on her social media page to choose 80 herders from Khovd, Uvs, Zavkhan and Govi-Altai for a study trip to Xilingol League in Inner Mongolia (iSee.mn, Eguur.mn). Eguur.mn reported that the MP will cover the costs. Today a post by former MP B. Bayarsaikhan, who said the video left him "ashamed and disgusted", spread on X. Other users argued that choosing voters by lottery is inappropriate for a lawmaker. We could not find a response from Bolormaa. 3. Public broadcaster subsidy: MP Lodoisambuu criticizes MNB director

The draft 2027 budget gives Mongolian National Broadcaster (MNB) a subsidy of 15 billion tugrik, up 7.2 billion from 7.8 billion in 2026. MP Ch. Lodoisambuu proposed cutting it. On October 21 the budget expenditure oversight subcommittee rejected his proposal (Gerelnews.mn). In a video shared on X today, he said MNB director G. Gerel should focus on running the broadcaster properly instead of "going around MPs' offices asking them not to criticize". These are his claims; we found no response from MNB.

4. Fuel: task force says AI-92 queues are shrinking (new development)

According to LiveTV.mn, the fuel task force said more than 1,000 rail cars of fuel are being unloaded normally at stations. It said oil companies are building winter stocks and that queues are shrinking now that AI-92 is being distributed without interruption. The task force also said importers will bring in enough AI-92 in November. Some users, however, report that petrol is still hard to find in rural areas. 5. Snowstorms and dust storms: travelers urged to take care

The weather forecast for October 31 calls for snow and snowstorms in the eastern parts of the western aimags, most of the central and eastern aimags and the northern gobi. Dust storms are expected in the south, with gusts reaching 18-20 m/s (Unen.mn). UBN.mn warned of snowstorms on roads to the western aimags. User @Monkhj shared video of a strong storm at Khongoryn Els in Sevrei soum, Ömnögovi. Snow is forecast for the eastern aimags on November 1.

6. Astana 2026: Süldkhüü reaches the world championship semifinal

At the freestyle wrestling world championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, O. Süldkhüü reached the 79 kg semifinal. He beat Ukraine's Bohdan Oliinyk 5-0 in the first round and Brazil's Cesar Alvan 9-2 in the quarterfinal (Ergelt.mn, UBN.mn). He faces Levi Haines of the United States, a world championship silver medalist, at 19:30. At 74 kg, B. Gan-Erdene beat Belgium's Ibrahim Veliev 10-0 before time. An earlier roundup covered Kh. 7. Halloween: the annual debate over whether to celebrate

Halloween is not on Mongolia's list of public holidays or official observances. The education ministry has previously said that a 2019 order against celebrating it in schools and kindergartens remains in force (Humanz.mn). Newslife.mn reported that J. Shirnen urged Mongolians not to celebrate it. User @LutochirT asked people not to frighten children who are celebrating and to let them have fun, while others shared photos of a Bankhar dog in costume.
