A Learjet 60 business jet crashed into a residential area of Palm Beach County, Florida, on Sunday, November 1, killing all nine people on board. The crash happened near Cresthaven, less than 11 km from President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort.

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy called the crash a "horrific tragedy" and confirmed that all nine people on board had died. He said the aircraft had taken off from Austin, Texas, and was bound for the Bahamas. Videos shared on social media appear to show the jet hitting the ground at high speed at a steep angle, followed by a large fire.

According to AFP, Trump was at Mar-a-Lago on Sunday and left on Air Force One from the local airport at 11:55 local time, about an hour before the crash. The area was experiencing wind and rain at the time.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are jointly investigating the cause.
