Ranked: iPhone Duo Prices Around the World
See how iPhone Duo prices vary worldwide, from $1,999 in the U.S. to $4,689 in Türkiye, and why taxes drive the gap.

How Much Does the iPhone Duo Cost Around the World?
Key Takeaways:
Türkiye has the world’s most expensive iPhone Duo among the countries shown, at $4,689, more than twice the $1,999 U.S. price.
Brazil and India round out the three most expensive markets, with prices of $4,230 and $3,124, respectively.
Taxes, import duties, exchange rates, and regional pricing strategies help explain the wide price differences between countries.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone comes with a premium price tag, but exactly how premium depends on where you buy it.
This graphic, created by Harris Saleem, compares the local prices of the 256GB iPhone Duo across 23 countries, converted into U.S. dollars. The data comes from OpenTheRank and reflects prices as of Oct. 2, 2026.

Why Is the iPhone Duo So Expensive in Türkiye?
Taxes are a major reason. Smartphones sold in Türkiye face several layers of taxation, including a 20% value-added tax (VAT) and a special consumption tax, with other levies adding to the final bill. Because some taxes are applied on top of earlier charges, their combined effect can be substantial.
These taxes can significantly increase the retail price of smartphones. And while the ranking compares prices in U.S. dollars, it doesn’t account for differences in take-home pay, which can make the device even less affordable in some markets.
Currency movements add another dimension. Türkiye’s lira has experienced significant depreciation, illustrating how currencies weakening against the U.S. dollar can amplify the local cost of globally priced technology.
China’s Competitive Foldable Market
China stands out for the opposite reason. At $2,382 in the dataset, the iPhone Duo costs about 19% more than its U.S. price, despite China’s listed price including 13% VAT.
Competition may help explain Apple’s pricing in China. Domestic manufacturers such as Huawei and Xiaomi have already established themselves in the foldable smartphone market, giving Chinese consumers several alternatives to Apple’s first entry.
The comparison shows that taxes alone don’t determine what consumers pay. Local competition, exchange rates, and Apple’s regional pricing decisions can also shape the final price of the same device.
