The most widely shared were a new satellite map of the area burned in the Nömrög strictly protected area, a bill to stop investigators from suspending companies indefinitely, and an analysis suggesting the MPP could form a coalition government with the DP. Engagement was relatively low in this morning window, and figures were taken at 10:28.

1. New satellite mapping shows 76.4% of the Nömrög protected area burned (new development)

According to MNB, iSee.mn and other outlets, the Information and Research Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Environment under the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring re-mapped the burned area using 10-metre Sentinel-2 satellite imagery from October 25. Of the reserve's 587,744.1 hectares, 448,993.6 ha (76.4%) burned and 138,750.5 ha (23.6%) did not. A further 55,966.8 ha outside the reserve's boundary burned, bringing the total mapped burned area to 504,960.4 ha. An earlier estimate had put the share at 79.8%; the new mapping is described as an official, certified source. Forensic experts and forest and plant researchers have joined the damage-assessment working group, which is using two helicopters. Separately, GoGo.mn found that a widely shared video said to show Mongolian gazelles fleeing the fire and burning against the border fence was in fact filmed during a 2023 steppe fire in Sükhbaatar province. 2. MP D. Enkhtüvshin says suspending companies indefinitely during investigations is like a "death sentence"

MP D. Enkhtüvshin, one of six MPs who submitted amendments to the Criminal Procedure Law during the spring session, explained the bill in an interview with iSee.mn. He said that under current rules, restricting a company's operations and asset transfers during a criminal investigation can shut the business down entirely, putting wages, supplier payments and investment at risk. According to him, the bill would require the length of such measures and the risks to the company to be taken into account, and would clarify procedures for cases involving legal entities. The bill has not yet been passed.

3. iSee: the MPP could expel five members and form a coalition government with the DP

An iSee.mn political analysis says a scenario is being discussed in political circles in which the MPP expels some members, loses its outright majority and forms a coalition government with the Democratic Party. The MPP holds 68 of the 126 seats in parliament. If five were expelled it would have 63, below the 64 needed for a majority on its own. The analysis recalls that MPP chairman N. Uchral said in February that MPs D. Amarbayasgalan and Kh. Bulgantuya should be released from party membership. 5. Searches continue for three people missing in Uvs, Zavkhan and Khövsgöl; police offer reward for information (new development)

iSee.mn and Newswire.mn, citing emergency and police authorities, report that the search for a 26-year-old woman who went missing on October 15 while looking for livestock in Burgastai bag, Tarialan soum, Uvs province, has reached its 13th day. Police have announced a reward for reliable information about her. Two men are also missing. A 54-year-old who went to work at a logging site in Tosontsengel soum, Zavkhan province, left on foot on October 21. A 46-year-old logging worker in Erdenebulgan soum, Khövsgöl province, set out on foot on September 18. Both searches were paused because of poor visibility.
