1. A neighbour selling home-cooked meals in her apartment complex strikes a chord
The night's most-engaged post was not political news but a slice of everyday life. User @AriuntuyaLaw wrote about a woman in her building who cooks at home and sells the meals to neighbours in the complex. She said she had doubted anyone would buy home cooking, but many residents come home tired from work with no time to cook, so the meals sell out quickly and people now order in advance. Her conclusion, that a business does not have to start with big capital or a big office, was widely shared.

With the heating season under way and air pollution rising in the capital, users returned to the smog issue. @nganbaa, who describes himself as Mongolia's first passive-house designer, proposed turning the coal subsidy into a payment based on the number of days a household does not burn coal, arguing that families would then insulate their homes. The post also argued that smog is not falling because some interests profit from coal burning; this is a personal view. @mathematicianBZ joked that snowfall at least brings some of the fine particles and pollutants down to the ground.
According to VOV.mn, Tavantolgoi Tulsh plans to supply 427,000 tonnes of briquette fuel to households in Ulaanbaatar's ger districts this heating season, including 307,000 tonnes of semi-coke fuel. Washed coal briquettes are on sale until November 1, and semi-coke fuel goes on sale from November 1 through the Khotula app.
