The five topics Mongolian users discussed most on X between 10:13 and 14:16 on 8 November are ranked below. Activity was relatively light on Sunday afternoon, but a personal reflection on relatives abroad criticising Mongolia reached the widest audience, followed by concern over missing women, an explanation of why foreign banks have not entered Mongolia, and an updated signature count on a petition to confiscate illicit wealth. Topics from the 10:00 roundup are repeated only where there is a genuine new development. Engagement figures are as of 14:21.
1. A reflection that criticising Mongolia from abroad may be a way to justify one’s own choice
One user wrote that a cousin living in the United States shares everything that is going wrong in Mongolia, and that the writer does not read those posts. After the cousin asked that morning whether Mongolia was terribly cold, the writer wondered whether talking down one’s homeland might be a way to confirm that leaving was the right choice, or to make up for one’s own dissatisfaction by comparing it with someone else’s circumstances. The writer said that whatever others say, this is their homeland, and that people should not pry into or attack others’ lives and living conditions. This is a personal opinion. The post drew the most likes and reposts of any item in this window.

Member of Parliament Odontuya Saldan wrote that four women had gone missing around the same time in Uvs, Dornod, Erdenet and Ulaanbaatar, and criticised spending on city cameras that, she said, was not producing results. She asked whether human trafficking or a serial offender could be involved, argued that law-enforcement agencies must establish what is happening, and said so many citizens were disappearing that it was fair to question whether the state was fulfilling its duty to keep public order. These were questions and views she raised, not findings confirmed by investigators.
According to news reports, police are searching for 26-year-old B. Ariunaa, who left to look for livestock in Tarialan soum, Uvs aimag, in October, and for G. Shijirtuya of Bayandun soum, Dornod aimag. A police press briefing also referred to a woman missing in Ulaanbaatar. Ubfocus, medee.news and Polit.mn reported on 4–6 November that three such cases had been registered. A fourth disappearance in Erdenet could not be confirmed from those outlets. medee.news noted that there was no information linking the two rural cases to each other. Police colonel N. Mishigdorj said searches begin as soon as a request is filed, that a search can be stopped at the family’s request, and that police still open an inquiry to establish why the person went missing.

User P. Tsenguun wrote that foreign banks have stayed out of Mongolia for two main reasons. The first, in his account, is that the central bank issues large volumes of subsidised loans, including mortgages, at 3–8 percent — well below the policy rate — which he said fuels inflation and misallocates capital. The second is what he described as the central bank’s excessive monopoly and tight controls on gold and foreign currency, which he said suppress free competition. The Bank of Mongolia’s Monetary Policy Committee kept the policy rate at 12.5 percent at its meetings on 16–17 September 2026. The 3–8 percent range for subsidised loans is the figure he cited. This is one person’s economic interpretation.

One user wrote that the business environment is poor and the market is weak, yet luxury vehicles such as G-class cars are common on the streets; that people say there is no petrol, yet traffic is jammed; that employers say they cannot find workers, yet no one calls back after a CV is sent; that the city is full of empty apartments; and that people rush about on the roads without appearing to produce anything. This is a personal observation.
