2026 Midterm Elections: The Top 10 House and Senate Fundraisers

Key Takeaways

  • Democrats account for all of the top 10 Senate fundraisers and eight of the top 10 House fundraisers in the 2026 midterm elections.

  • James Talarico leads Senate candidates with $146.3 million raised, while Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tops the House list with $38.0 million.

  • Senate and House totals cover different time periods, and some candidates on the lists are no longer in the race.

  • Totals exclude outside spending, including from super political action committees (super PACs).

With the 2026 midterm elections on Nov. 3, control of Congress is on the line. Republicans currently hold majorities in both chambers, so the results could keep one party in charge or produce a divided Congress, with each party controlling one chamber.

Which Candidates Have Raised the Most for the 2026 Midterms?

Senate and House totals can’t be compared directly. Senate figures run from Jan. 1, 2021, while House figures run from Jan. 1, 2025, reflecting their different election cycles. The lists also include candidates who are no longer running.

Senate Fundraising

Talarico leads the Senate field with $146.3 million, followed closely by Ossoff with $136.6 million. Talarico is running in Texas, home to Lubbock, which ranked as America’s reddest major city based on county-level voting in the 2024 presidential election.

Ossoff has framed his campaign as a grassroots fight against the millions spent by Republican super PACs.

Abdul El-Sayed narrowly won Michigan’s Democratic primary on Aug. 4 and will face Republican Mike Rogers. Raja Krishnamoorthi lost Illinois’ March 17 primary and is off the ballot.

House Fundraising

Ocasio-Cortez leads House candidates. David Trone’s second-place total ($26.2 million) was largely self-funded: Trone loaned his campaign about $25 million of his own money, then lost the June 23 Democratic primary to April McClain Delaney.

Eric Jones, fourth in the ranking, is also primarily self-funded. The venture capitalist has contributed nearly $15 million to his campaign, breaking the record for the largest self-funded congressional candidate in California’s history.

2026 Midterm Elections: Why Fundraising Matters

Campaign money helps candidates reach voters, but it is only part of the picture, and fundraising totals alone can’t predict election results. The totals above also exclude outside spending.

Elon Musk has contributed over $445 million during the 2026 election cycle to support Republican groups and his own super PAC, America PAC.
