Petition to confiscate corruptly acquired assets passes 100,000 signatures
A public petition to confiscate public servants’ illegally acquired assets and impose life sentences above 100 million togrog had 100,126 signatures at 6:20 p.m., reaching the threshold for parliamentary review.

A public petition initiated by citizen B. Boldbaatar, calling for the illegally acquired assets of public servants to be confiscated and for life imprisonment where the amount exceeds 100 million togrog, has crossed the 100,000-signature threshold. As of 6:20 p.m. on 8 November, parliament’s public e-petition system showed 100,126 signatures and the status “supporter threshold reached”.
The petition, number PN-202609-61758, was registered on 2 October 2026 as a proposal to initiate legislation. Signature collection opened at 11:02 p.m. on 9 October and closes at 11:02 p.m. on 8 November. The petition argues that public servants who commit corruption offences often get away with a 40 million togrog fine, which it says encourages such crimes, and proposes confiscating all illegally acquired assets to compensate the state and imposing life sentences where the amount exceeds 100 million togrog.
Eguur.mn reported 12,700 signatures as of 3 November, and Hemnel.mn reported more than 46,600 with three days left. The count stood at 85,899 at 10:25 a.m. today and 92,702 at 2:21 p.m. before crossing the threshold a few hours before the deadline, showing a sharp rise in support over the final days.
According to LiveTV.mn, a petition supported by more than 100,000 citizens is considered by parliament’s Standing Committee on Petitions. On X, MP M. Enkhtsetseg posted that the petition had reached 100,000 and said parliament must discuss it and turn it into real law.
